SIKKIM

The northeastern charm, Sikkim, is one of the smallest states in India. The state is endowed with excellent natural resources, lofty mountains, gorgeous waterfalls and some wonderful landscapes. This beautiful state coupled with the majestic Himalayan snow makes Sikkim a perfect destination.

The cultural people and the natural beauty, along with the modern life give the city its own character. The state is addressed by different names by different communities. The Nepalis addressed it as ‘Sukhim’ or the New Place, the ‘Bhutias’ called it the ‘Demazong’ or the Valley of rice whereas the Lepchas called it thr ‘Nye-mae-ellang’ or the abode of gods. If you are someone who longs to spend a moment in the lap of Mother Nature then Sikkim invites you with clear sky and fresh air.

A fairytale land indeed, Sikkim is adorned with glistening high altitude lakes, rolling green mountains, pretty rhododendron groves, azure rivers, milky waterfalls and vivid monasteries. The west-most Northeastern state of Sikkim is evidently an abode of beauty, however, it does have a window of opportunity for adventure. Not to forget, the state is famous for its incredible view of the third highest mountain in the world, Mount Kanchenjunga/Khangchendzonga.

Accessible mainly via road from the neighbouring states, the newly inaugurated Pakyong airport near the capital city of Gangtok highlights government efforts towards better connectivity. Regarded primarily as a peaceful hilly escape during the harsh Indian summers, Sikkim’s abundance of natural beauty is arguably second to none compared to anywhere else in India.
